A magnitude-7.8 earthquake struck southern Philippines early on Monday, killing at least 37 people and injuring hundreds. The quake hit about 20km off the coast of Sarangani province and was felt strongly across Mindanao. Buildings collapsed and tsunami alerts were issued.
