US-Iran Strikes Near Strait of Hormuz Push Oil Prices Up โ India Watches Closely
MarketWatchยทMonday, 13 July 2026
The US and Iran exchanged fresh strikes around the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend, sending oil prices higher and US stock futures lower. The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most critical oil shipping lanes. Prediction markets now give only a 43% chance that traffic flows return to normal by December 1, with full normalisation not expected until 2027.
Why It Matters
India imports a large share of its crude oil through the Strait of Hormuz, so any disruption there directly affects fuel prices and inflation back home.
