Hero MotoCorp First to Warn That New Emission Rules Could Hit Two-Wheeler Firms Hard
MintยทMonday, 13 July 2026

Hero MotoCorp has become the first two-wheeler manufacturer to flag the business risks posed by upcoming CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) norms. The rules, set to kick in by 2028, could significantly raise costs for the industry. Hero says it plans to respond by improving fuel efficiency and ramping up its EV lineup.
Why It Matters
Two-wheelers are the most common personal vehicle in India, so any cost increases driven by new emission norms could eventually push up prices for millions of buyers.
