FAA Wants to Allow Supersonic Passenger Flights Over Cities — If They Stay Quiet

The US Federal Aviation Administration has proposed new rules that would allow supersonic aircraft to fly over American cities, as long as they don't create a sonic boom. Current rules ban all overland supersonic flight because of the noise. The change could revive the dream of ultra-fast commercial air travel.
