Iranian Oil Is Back on the Table for Indian Refiners โ at a Discount
The HinduยทFriday, 26 June 2026
Middlemen are now offering Iranian crude oil to Indian refiners following a US waiver, with Iran's national oil company telling Indian buyers it would be $3 to $4 a barrel cheaper than similar regional grades on a landed basis. The offers come after a period of sanctions that had largely cut off India's access to Iranian oil. Sources say the approach is being made through intermediaries.
Why It Matters
India is one of the world's biggest oil importers, so cheaper crude directly affects fuel prices, inflation, and the cost of running businesses and households.
