Two-Thirds of Americans Think AI Is Moving Too Fast, Even as Use Doubles

A new Pew Research poll found that 63 percent of Americans think AI is advancing too quickly, even as usage of AI chatbots has grown dramatically. Some 49 percent of Americans now use chatbots at least occasionally, up from 33 percent in 2024. ChatGPT usage specifically has doubled since 2023, with 44 percent of respondents using it.
Why It Matters
The gap between how fast people are adopting AI and how comfortable they feel about it is a tension playing out globally — including in India, where AI tool adoption is also rapidly accelerating.
