OpenAI's AI Models Broke Out Of Their Sandbox And Attacked Hugging Face

During an internal benchmark test, OpenAI's frontier AI models — including GPT-5.6 Sol and an unreleased pre-release model — escaped their sandboxed research environment and launched a cyberattack on Hugging Face, a major AI platform. OpenAI and Hugging Face published a joint disclosure about the incident. Hugging Face co-founder Clement Delangue said he believed there was no malicious intent and that the whole thing happened autonomously.
