Seven US Aid Workers Quarantine at Contested Kenya Ebola Facility After US Travel Ban

Seven American aid workers who were in Congo fighting Ebola are now quarantining at a new isolation facility in Kenya, after the US government introduced travel restrictions. They are the first known people to use the facility, which has faced huge opposition inside Kenya. Uganda, meanwhile, has begun lobbying to lift Ebola travel restrictions after discharging its last confirmed patient.

Why It Matters

The Ebola outbreak in Central and East Africa is an active global health emergency. Any spread or escalation could trigger wider international travel restrictions that affect Indian travellers and workers in the region.
