India's Cabinet has approved a ₹1.27 trillion Semicon 2.0 mission to build chip factories, support startups, and fund AI research. The government's R&D body C-DAC is leading the push to create India's first indigenous AI inference chip. Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said the chip could be ready as early as 2029 or 2030.
