Developing Nations Pay More to Foreign Lenders Than They Spend on Children's Education

A new UNESCO report found that 113 developing countries spent more repaying foreign debt than on education in 2025. In sub-Saharan Africa, 18 countries spent five times more on debt repayment than on schooling. This comes as global aid to education is predicted to drop by up to 30%.
