Hero MotoCorp Is First to Flag a Big Risk from India's New Emission Rules
mint - companiesยทMonday, 13 July 2026
Hero MotoCorp has become the first two-wheeler company to officially warn that upcoming CAFE (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) norms could raise costs for the industry. The norms kick in ahead of a 2028 emissions deadline. Hero says it plans to counter the impact by improving vehicle efficiency and expanding its EV lineup.
Why It Matters
Two-wheelers are how most Indians get around. If these new emission rules raise costs, the price of motorcycles and scooters could go up for ordinary buyers.
