Once-a-Week Insulin Injections Now Available in India โ But Only for Some Patients
Times of IndiaยทFriday, 10 July 2026
A new once-weekly insulin option has arrived in India, cutting injections from daily to just 52 times a year. Doctors say it is best suited for patients who need basal insulin replacement and is not a blanket replacement for all diabetes treatments. Other therapies are also reducing the reliance on insulin, doctors noted.
Why It Matters
India has one of the world's largest diabetic populations, so a new injection option could meaningfully improve daily life for millions of patients.
