Dixon Gets Green Light For JV With Vivo โ 18 Months After It Was First Proposed
MintยทFriday, 10 July 2026

The Indian government has approved Dixon Technologies' joint venture with Chinese smartphone maker Vivo, nearly 18 months after it was first announced. Dixon will hold a 51% stake in the venture. The deal also positions Dixon to operate as an original equipment manufacturer, which could eventually allow it to build its own smartphone brand or assemble phones for other clients.
Why It Matters
This is a big deal for India's electronics manufacturing push. It shows the government is selectively opening doors to Chinese tech investment while keeping domestic firms in control.
