mint - companiesยทThursday, 9 July 2026

Judges at the EU's General Court in Luxembourg ruled against Apple's challenge to being regulated under the EU's Digital Markets Act (DMA). The court said regulators were right to bring Apple's App Store and iPhone under the DMA's scope. Apple had argued against being designated as a so-called gatekeeper under the rules.
Why It Matters
This ruling affects how Apple can operate its App Store globally, which in turn affects every developer and consumer who buys apps โ including hundreds of millions of iPhone users in India and worldwide.
