A Private Spacecraft Is Now Chasing NASA's Dead Swift Observatory to Save It

A satellite rescue mission by a company called Katalyst is now actively pursuing NASA's Swift space observatory, which has been decommissioned. The mission's spacecraft, called Link, will take several weeks to catch up and rendezvous with Swift. If successful, it would be one of the first commercial satellite servicing operations of its kind.

Why It Matters

Satellite servicing technology is directly relevant to space agencies like ISRO as India grows its satellite fleet and looks for ways to extend the life of costly space assets.
