US DoJ Says Adani Charges Should Never Have Been Filed, Asks Judge to Drop Case Permanently
The HinduยทSunday, 5 July 2026
The US Department of Justice told a federal judge that the indictment against Adani Group should never have been brought and urged him to permanently drop the charges. The filing came after Judge Nicholas Garaufis asked the DoJ to explain why it was seeking dismissal, calling its earlier motion 'terse, bland, and conclusory'. The judge has not yet ruled on the request.
Why It Matters
The Adani case has had major ripple effects on Indian markets and investor confidence. A permanent dismissal would be a significant legal win for one of India's biggest conglomerates.
