Dish TV Files for Bankruptcy โ But Says It's Not Shutting Down
The VergeยทWednesday, 1 July 2026

Dish, the US company behind Dish TV and Sling TV, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The filing comes after delays in selling $23 billion worth of 5G spectrum to AT&T held back its plans. The company says it will continue operating while it winds down its wireless business.
Why It Matters
Chapter 11 bankruptcy lets a company restructure its debts while staying open โ it's a sign of serious financial trouble, but not necessarily the end.
