Ebola Reaches Europe: France Confirms First Case in Doctor Returned from DRC
The GuardianยทSunday, 28 June 2026

France has confirmed its first Ebola case in a doctor who returned from a humanitarian mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The patient was transferred to a specialist facility and was in stable condition. The French health ministry said contacts are being traced and the risk to the European public is very low.
Why It Matters
India has large numbers of citizens travelling to and from Europe and Africa for work and study. An Ebola case in a major European country raises the question of how quickly the virus could spread through international travel routes.
