Google Cuts Play Store Fees Worldwide โ Here's What That Means for Indian App Developers
Ars TechnicaยทThursday, 25 June 2026

Google is starting to lower its Play Store commission fees as part of its settlement with Epic Games. The flat 30 percent cut is coming down, with some markets getting lower fees now and a global rollout planned for 2027. The court hasn't formally signed off on the settlement yet, but Google is moving ahead anyway.
Why It Matters
India has one of the world's largest Android user bases, and millions of Indian app developers pay Google's commission. Lower fees could mean cheaper apps or more money in developers' pockets.
