Alibaba's New AI Model Beats Agent Benchmarks Without Ever Being Trained as an Agent
VentureBeatยทThursday, 25 June 2026

Alibaba's Qwen team released Qwen-AgentWorld, two models trained to predict what AI agent environments return rather than to act inside them. The models cover seven domains including search, software engineering, Android, and web, all under a single architecture. Despite not being trained as agents, they improved performance across seven agent benchmarks.
Why It Matters
This challenges a basic assumption in AI development โ that to build a good AI agent, you have to train it to act like one โ which could reshape how AI systems are built.
