Oracle Cut 21,000 Jobs in 12 Months โ and Says AI Replaced Some of Them
Fast CompanyยทWednesday, 24 June 2026

Oracle revealed in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission that it reduced its workforce by 21,000 employees over the past 12 months. The company said AI replaced some of those roles. Oracle is spending $70 billion this year on AI infrastructure, including data centres and AI-capable servers.
Why It Matters
This is one of the clearest public admissions by a major tech company that AI is directly eliminating jobs โ not just changing them. It sets a precedent for how other companies might talk about workforce cuts going forward.
