A new study by the GCPEA found over 8,556 attacks on education in 2024 and 2025, with at least 10,600 students and staff killed, injured, abducted, arrested, or otherwise harmed. Incidents were reported in 83 countries, with the highest cases in Colombia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, and Haiti. The figure represents a 40% surge from previous periods.
