New York has passed bill S8877, which would fine employers and third-party platforms for posting job listings that do not include a timeframe for when, or whether, the role will actually be filled. These are known as 'ghost jobs' — listings that look real but have no intention behind them. Fines would apply to both the companies posting them and the platforms hosting them.
