Google Sues Chinese Cybercrime Ring That Used Gemini AI to Build Scam Websites
Ars TechnicaยทSaturday, 13 June 2026
Google has filed a lawsuit against a Chinese cybercrime network accused of using Google's own Gemini AI to automate the creation of scam websites. The fraudsters allegedly targeted hundreds of thousands of people. This is one of the first major cases of AI being weaponised at scale for online fraud.
Why It Matters
India has one of the world's largest populations of internet users, many of whom are frequently targeted by online scams. AI-powered scam sites are harder to detect and could reach Indian users easily.
