A Popular Speaker Can Silently Infect Your PC — No Clicks Needed

Ars Technica·Sunday, 7 June 2026

Security researchers found that the Creative Sound Blaster Katana V2X, a widely sold USB speaker, can be hacked wirelessly to install malicious software on any PC it's plugged into. The attacker doesn't need physical access — they can do it over the air. Creative, the company that makes it, doesn't think it's a bug.

Why It Matters

This speaker is sold on Indian e-commerce sites and used by gamers and home office workers across the country. If you own one, your PC could be at risk without you doing anything wrong.
